A RED FLAG WARNING is in effect for the region through tonight due to EXTREME FIRE DANGER. Scattered thunderstorms are expected to develop today and tonight across portions of southeastern New Mexico. The northeast Permian Basin and Western Low Rolling Plains are most favored for storm development. The strongest storms will be capable of producing large hail, damaging winds, heavy rainfall with local flash flooding and isolated tornadoes. Today: Mostly sunny, with a high near 78. Windy, with a south wind 15 to 20 mph increasing to between 25 and 30 mph. Winds could gust as high as 40 mph. Tonight: Mostly clear, with a low around 50. Windy, with a west wind between 20 and 30 mph, with gusts as high as 40 mph. Thursday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 74. Windy, with a west wind 25 to 30 mph increasing to between 35 and 40 mph. Winds could gust as high as 55 mph. Thursday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 43. Northwest wind between 15 and 25 mph, with gusts as high as 35 mph. Friday: Sunny, with a high near 77.
